We stayed at 1 of a kind B&B in Oliver last fall and had a great little vacation get away. Each day we enjoyed different activities from the steam train in Summerland to the desert center in Osoyoos and everything in between. It was great to have a nice cozy place to come back to each evening. We found 1 of a kind very clean, quiet, and homey. All of your basic comforts are well covered at 1 of a kind B&B. For us the price was right on, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend others to stay at this B&B. - Ray and Amber, Halfmoon Bay, B.C. January 11, 2011 _____________________ My husband and I had the pleasure of spending 2 nights here at the end of July. Leta was a wonderful, warm, friendly hostess who made us feel most welcome. Her home is immaculate and has everything you might need. There is absolutely nothing basic about this B&B except the price. Everything is above standard! The breakfast was delicious and you haven"t lived until you eat Leta's omelet for breakfast. I could have eaten it every day for a week. If you are ever in the Oliver area, don"t pass up the opportunity to stay in this delightful B&B.  - Fred and Meredith Zottl, Edmonton, AB. August 25, 2010 _____________________ In July, 2010 we had a wonderful experience at About the Basics B&B in Oliver. If you are looking for a quiet & peaceful location to stay, we would not hesitate to recommend Leta's place. Every day, we got a different delicious & nutritious breakfast. Her house is located close to the wineries & orchards of the Oliver/Osoyoos area. We were fascinated to learn about her sculptures,  including the bronze statue of John Oliver in downtown Oliver. We would definitely go back again.   - Dave & Chandra Stokes, Mission, BC, August 1, 2010 ______________________   This was our first B&B experience and we spent a very enjoyable weekend at "About the Basics". We received a warm welcome, ate delicious breakfasts and had great conversations. It was also a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Friendly, accommodating hostess. Nice breakfasts. Good value for the money. Highly recommended. - Helen Abrahamse, Vernon, B.C. May 26, 2011 _____________________ We spent 3 nights at 1 Of A Kind B&B in Oliver. The suite was much larger than we had expected in a B&B as well as being very modern, clean and well kept. Leta was very friendly, welcoming and a very good cook. Breakfasts were excellent and varied. The neighbourhood was quiet and well suited to long walks; but also close to the downtown area, restaurants as well as a multitude of wineries. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this B&B to anyone wishing to visit Oliver B.C. - Bob & Jo Hnetka, Saskatoon, SK. June 25, 2011 _____________________ Loved our visit at 1 Of A Kind Bed and Breakfast. Everything was as expected and more. Very clean and comfortable. Close to town center of Oliver. - The Dobsons,  July 18, 2011 _____________________                           Bed & Breakfast Reviews                        We were this years (spring 2010) B&B customers for a spring w/end in Oliver. Leta not only provided a comfortable, reasonably priced accomodation she also acted as personal tour guide, showing us many sites around Oliver and Osoyos. ( I don't think this is part of the service usually but Leta was fantastic!) We also learned lots about local art and Leta showed us many scuptures she's created... what a talent! We would recommend "about the basics B&B" to anyone seeking art, and comfort... Thanks Leta...     - Terri and Steve, Nakusp,B.C. April 10, 2010 _______________________   We spent a very lovely, comfortable evening with Leta and Phoenix over the May long weekend. We had the basement to ourselves - lots of room. Her B & B is in a very quiet part of Oliver. We found her information about Sculpting very interesting and made sure we visited the John Oliver statue that she created. We were up early and she had our breakfast ready at 7:30 so we could get back on the road again! We would definitely recommend staying at the "About the Basics" if you are are looking for a reasonably-priced and very comfortable B & B.  - Jane and Cleve, Ladysmith, B.C. June 1, 2010 ______________________   We are experienced travellers and often use a B&B when on a trip. We recently spent 6 nights in Oliver and had chosen the One of a Kind B&B for that stay. There is a unique combination of space, comfort [good fans and A/C during a hot week], cleanliness and extras available at this location. The owner, Leta Shores, provided super recommendations for dining out, for wineries to visit and for side roads to use to avoid the summer road construction. She also showed flexibility in both serving time and options for our breakfasts when we expressed a need for different start times on different days. Her variety of breakfast dishes was wonderful, and the fresh local fruit was appreciated. As a bonus, Leta is a sculptress and she provided entertaining stories of her experiences in that field, especially the tale of the John Oliver sculpture which stands on a downtown corner in the town. As a result of the above, we found One of a Kind B&B the ideal place to use for our stay in this lovely valley. Les and Pat, Nanaimo, B.C. September 17, 2011 _____________________ We were very impressed with this B & B! It is spotlessly clean, very quiet and peaceful and with a great host who filled us in about everything worth looking at in the area. Things we wouldn't have been able to find without Leta. Every morning she surprised us with her wonderful breakfast creations (you have to try the omelette!). We can highly recommend it! Linda & Chris Jud, Mission, B.C. September 18, 2011 _____________________ We had the delightful experience of staying in Leta's home for 3 nights. It was most comfortable, quiet, clean and convenient to all activities in the valley. Leta was a very accommodating hostess and provides you with all the comforts of home. She knows the area well and provides much insight as to what to see and do. We enjoyed our conversations with her. Her assistant, Phoenix, is a delight. We will reommend her to our friends as well as look forward to another visit in the future. Les & Sharon Perry, Troutdale, OR. September 23, 2011 _____________________ I recently spend time at the One of a Kind Sculpture B&B and got more than my money's worth. Not only was it immaculately clean and comfortable with a wonderful breakfast, but I got suggestions of a wine route I would never have thought to take and had a delightful time finding 5 interesting wineries in the area. I need to go back and find another five sometime! You cannot beat this for location, space, comfort and value and if you have any interest in art or sculpture , the hostess is an experienced figure sculpture artist who can share experiences and answer questions. I have no hesitation in recommending this place and will go back again if my travels take me to the Oliver area. Janet, Richmond, B.C.
